Glass Blowing Blog

Friday, August 24th, 2007

There is a new glass blowing blog set up at Whirled Glass.com. They review other glass blowing sites and suppliers and they are giving the public readers the ease of voting for their favorite site. You can also add your glass blowing related sites to their directory.

The blog is set up to talk about all the glass blowing companies on the internet. They have quite a few reviews for sites on there already but they are always willing to do more. You can get them to review your site and company with a simple request via email. The posts are set up so that you can vote for the sites or companies that are reviewed. This is a cool way to find out who is the best of the best. This also will earn the reviewee a chance to win a free featured link in the Directory.

The Whirled Glass Directory is set up and categorized by State and there are a few miscellaneous categories for people that are only selling products or information online and don’t have a brick and mortar operation. You can submit your URL for free with a reciprocal link on your site or you can choose the $5 option .. that will help those guys out a little with hosting and whatnot.

Check them out and submit your site while all these great services are free.

Beaumont

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

We have been looking at property in Texas, Beaumont in particular and there is this AWESOME property .. not for what we are looking for, but awesome none the less. It looks like it used to be a church or something. There is this HUGE room with church style benches and a little stage.

Come to think about it .. maybe that would be great for us to have shows at. We could host our own shows for local bands and charge at the door. No drinks caues a liquor license is TOO expensive.

I think maybe we keep looking though and see if there is anything with a little more land to it.

Banks and Their Charges

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I can’t wait to find a bank that is not going to charge me every time I sneeze. I never go over the limit on my account yet for some reason I always have some off the wall charge on my account for something that defiantly was not in the fine print when I signed up for the account.

Today I got a charge for a returned mail. That sucker cost me $33. I have not moved and I have not changed my address in over two years. I have been getting my mail up until a couple months ago when there was a miss hap at the post office and they moved us with out telling us. Really!

The local post office took it upon themselves to change our address. When we contacted them to find out why we were not getting mail they said that they changed our address because they thought we had moved by now. I guess people only stay in a house that they are renting for one year then they move automatically. Retards. And we are still not getting our mail.

So I am on my way to the bank to put my foot in someones ass as soon as I get a free minute. One of these days some bank will come up with an account that doesn’t have ten thousand fees (hidden fees) attached to it.

Got Soap?

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

Anyone who wants to wash their clothes and have them smell great should check out the local dry cleaner. We took our clothes to a local dry cleaner and when we got them back they smelled so good.

I have always been one for great smelling laundry. I asked the clerk what they used to get the clothes smelling so good and she couldn’t speak very good English so I am trying to get someone who can translate for me next time I go down there.

I can’t wait to get more of the clothes cleaned there so the whole house can smell like that soap or whatever they are using.

Going Organic

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Becoming Green takes a lot of work. There are so many things that we can do to be more green in our lives that becoming green may seem a little overwhelming. You can start by purchasing organic foods or you can start by growing your own organic foods if you have a green thumb. Being Green usually means that you are growing your own foods though.

If you really want to make a go of it you can move to an area where there is the possibility of growing fruits and vegetables all year round. You can even make enough food to support yourself as well as have enough to be able to sell off the extra and make a little money. Some have made it their lives to grow and sell their foods as well as use what they grow to maintain their households.

One of the better websites we found that offers pretty good prices on the seeds and seedlings for growing your own food is also located very near where we grew up. As kids we did a lot of growing our own food. What a great experience that was. I once grew a pretty hefty pumpkin for Halloween that was used mainly to scare other kids but for pumpkin pie later on that time of year.

I’m getting pretty excited about the possibilities of being Green. Sometimes it takes some courage to become more one with the earth. Like Julia Hill, but I don’t think we will be sitting in any trees for over two years. We certainly will be checking out our options for a more self sustained lifestyle.

Here Comes The Heater

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

It’s going to be another hot ass summer I can tell already. Today was a little less hot than I expected but I can tell already that this summer is going to be the hottest ever.

They say that in like 2012 that the strongest heat wave ever is going to hit the earth and I am sure that we will feel the brunt of it seeing as we are in the desert. We usually see temperatures in the low 100’s during the summer and I bet that this is not going to change this year.

I predict that this year will be one of the hottest years we have seen in a while. With temperatures rising ever so quickly and the rain on it’s way I’m sure that the heater is just getting warmed up for Vegas.

Home Made Beer BYO

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

In an effort to be a little more green we are going to attempt to make our own beer. Apparently this is not something new to dwellers of caves and us among the out landers. I guess I have been living under a rock for some time now and I want to get out from under it as soon as possible.

Brew Your Own more commonly known as Homebrewng, has been around for centuries. Now you can buy a kit that will show you how to make beer in just a few short steps. This process of making beer in your own home is much more cost effective than buying a 6 or 12 pack on the way home from work. And you can make an unlimited supply of brew, cool it and drink it anytime you want.

So in an effort to be more green and to become a self sustained house hold we are going to attempt the process of brewing our own beer. This will really give new meaning to the term BYOB!!

Alexa Still Hates Me

Friday, April 13th, 2007

I have been using some of the tricks that I learned recently to get a better Alexa Traffic Score and show people that your site does get looked at. It’s not enough to show your own stats apparently but you have to have the recommendation of sites like Alexa who use some pretty tricky and sneaky practices to supply other people with your stats.

We use a few different programs to monitor our sites progress in the search and in the ranks of Alexa. Web CEO is one that started out free and we just had to have it for full time use. You can check all kinds of things with Web CEO.

One of these days Alexa will get their stuff together and let everyone know how they are getting their results that are so important to blogging in the paid blogging arena.

There are other sites like Technoroti who boast real time results and real time indexing of blogs that are out in the web. The blogosphere is growing and can not be stopped. You will be seeing more and more blogs supplying information and great links to other sites if you are not hip to this already.

Proven Results

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I didn’t realize this before but there are tricks and little sneaky things that you can do to get a better score with the search engines. Now I’m not talking about anything black hat like Traffic Power used to do but I am talking about legitimate ways to get better rankings on the search engines and some of the other tracking sites.

These are proven results and everyone is using them. Check out the Alexa site and the Google help logs on their site for more information on how you can improve your site and your rank with proven results.

Knuckle Punch

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

The oldest boy is really taking to the baby. He is 5 years older than the little baby boy and that is his “Little Brother”! He is so gentle with him and wants to help out with every thing that we do for the baby. He wants to do everything except change the diapers.

He has this toy that he calls his Knuckle Punch. We are not really sure why he calls it that other than its one of those Hulk Fists and maybe he made the distinction between that and a knuckle sandwich. I don’t know .. he is one weird kid.

Funny thing about marketing things like the Hulk Fists. They have the movie coming out in theaters and in Wal Mart you can get the Hulk Memorabilia before the movie even gets out. So you buy up all this stuff and then your kid says .. well lets go see the movie now. WOW .. they know how to make your kids buy things that they want you to buy. Waste your hard earned money on silly things to keep your kids happy even if they are not learning anything from the actual toy they are learning that if they want something bad enough all they have to do is whine for a while and it can be theirs.

Good job on the marketing … really … now we have 4 Knuckle Punches and they are all sitting in the closet collecting dust and we had to sit through the movie to … with the stale popcorn and the idiots who can take the Hulk if he was here right now.
